Lighting design in healthcare has long been about far more than pure functionality. What is called for are solutions that not only illuminate rooms optimally but also create atmosphere and establish architectural identity. The Schyns S130 was developed precisely for this requirement – based on over 40 years of experience in the medical environment.
Application examples

Clear Design – High-Quality Materials
The end caps made of anodised aluminium blend harmoniously into the material appearance and lend the luminaire a discreet yet high-quality accent. The extruded aluminium profiles are naturally anodised. This makes them resistant to wear and easy to clean.
The optional HPL front blends seamlessly into the material concept of the room and harmonises with the surfaces of the rest of the furnishings. The light-emitting surfaces are made of a plastic developed specifically for use in healthcare – durable, hygienic and with optimal optical properties for an even light distribution.
Flexible for Any Planning
With a standard length of 1,200 mm and the option of flexible length adjustment, the S130 fits perfectly into different room concepts – from single rooms through to multi-bed solutions.
The continuous Schyns accessory groove allows medical devices and accessories to be mounted without tools, so the patient environment can be adapted quickly and easily to changing requirements. An electronically adjustable reading light is optionally available, allowing the patient bed to be positioned freely beneath the luminaire without losing the optimal illumination.
Light Quality that Exceeds Standards
With colour rendering well above the usual standard values, the S130 ensures a natural, high-contrast representation. This not only supports medical activities but also contributes to the wellbeing of patients and staff.
Perfect Integration into Existing Systems
The medical wall luminaire is fully compatible with all Schyns Q100 systems and takes its cue, in terms of materiality and design, from our medical supply units. It is supplied ready for connection with terminal blocks, is fully wired through and can optionally be equipped with relays, switches and other control elements.

Our contribution to a more humane healthcare system
healing architecture for all senses
We design spaces that provide tangible support to staff and patients.
A modern patient environment must offer more than just functionality.
As part of interior design, we are responsible for ensuring that technical equipment and architectural atmosphere form a harmonious whole. This approach has guided us for many years – as Alphonse Schyns once said: A hospital does not have to look like a hospital. This idea continues to influence our work today. Our products are developed in collaboration with our customers. This direct exchange ensures that every solution works in the everyday environment of clinics and care facilities: clear, robust, hygienic, and well thought-out exactly where it matters most.
Our work follows the principles of healing architecture. We design spaces that provide tangible support to staff and patients, promote calm, and facilitate processes. This is not a fashionable concept, but an approach that has proven itself over decades.
The multisensory approach—healing architecture for all senses—is a central component of this. Light, acoustics, materials, haptics, and intuitive orientation are specifically coordinated to reduce stress, create clarity, and generate a tangibly soothing environment. This creates an atmosphere that is both professional and relaxing.
Our supply units fit seamlessly into this overall concept as an important component: ergonomic, hygienically designed, and durable. They support staff in their daily work and provide patients with safety and orientation.
This is how we combine technical precision, many years of experience, and a clear design philosophy—and consistently think ahead to the patient rooms of the future.
