The medical supply unit free02 breaks away from classic forms while still meeting all requirements for function and ease of handling. The compact unit is an architectural element and combines media supply with a wooden panel and flush-mounted integrated luminaires. The sockets for power and low-voltage current and the medical gases are directly accessible from the front. Wall mounts for multimedia support arms can be integrated behind the wooden panel.
Thanks to the separated arrangement of the supply unit, general lighting and reading light, everything is where it best serves its purpose: sockets and medical gases are conveniently accessible from the front above the patient bed. The general lighting illuminates the room via the ceiling, and the reading light illuminates the reading area directly.
Application examples

Light and Space
The indirect general lighting is integrated almost flush into the panel and distributes its light evenly throughout the room. The direct reading light is arranged flush on the underside and provides pleasant, glare-free reading and examination light.
Compact and Comfortable
The free02 consists of supply profiles made from extruded aluminium and luminaires with luminaire covers made from extruded, translucent satin acrylic. All the power and communication connections required in the patient room, the medical gas outlets, and the general and reading lighting are integrated here. The high- and low-voltage cabling and the medical gas lines are kept separate from one another.
A particular feature is that power connections and gas sockets can be combined in a single aluminium channel in a space-saving way while still being separated. This allows for very slim and understated solutions. The system is designed for the flush installation of elements from the Gira System 55 range.
The installation and maintenance of the electrical components are straightforward thanks to the removable covers. The free02 combines understated elegance with the functionality and robustness demanded in everyday medical use. The integrative overall form, with its smooth surfaces, is particularly easy to clean. The harmonious combination of extruded, natural-colour anodised aluminium profiles with contrasting coloured fronts makes the free02 highly premium. A wide variety of front decors is available, so that the supply unit integrates seamlessly into any interior design or sets deliberate colour accents.

Our contribution to a more humane healthcare system
healing architecture for all senses
We design spaces that provide tangible support to staff and patients.
A modern patient environment must offer more than just functionality.
As part of interior design, we are responsible for ensuring that technical equipment and architectural atmosphere form a harmonious whole. This approach has guided us for many years – as Alphonse Schyns once said: A hospital does not have to look like a hospital. This idea continues to influence our work today. Our products are developed in collaboration with our customers. This direct exchange ensures that every solution works in the everyday environment of clinics and care facilities: clear, robust, hygienic, and well thought-out exactly where it matters most.
Our work follows the principles of healing architecture. We design spaces that provide tangible support to staff and patients, promote calm, and facilitate processes. This is not a fashionable concept, but an approach that has proven itself over decades.
The multisensory approach—healing architecture for all senses—is a central component of this. Light, acoustics, materials, haptics, and intuitive orientation are specifically coordinated to reduce stress, create clarity, and generate a tangibly soothing environment. This creates an atmosphere that is both professional and relaxing.
Our supply units fit seamlessly into this overall concept as an important component: ergonomic, hygienically designed, and durable. They support staff in their daily work and provide patients with safety and orientation.
This is how we combine technical precision, many years of experience, and a clear design philosophy—and consistently think ahead to the patient rooms of the future.
